In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jones family. Maxine's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be anymore pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Mother Maxine Jones.

Maxine Sanderfer Jones was born on April 23, 1939, to Maceo and Goldie Standerfer. She was educated in the Little Rock School District, graduating from Dunbar High School in 1957. She continued her education at Arkansas AM&N (now UAPB). While there she met her future husband, Leroy Jones and they were married on August 23, 1959. Leroy and Maxine were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Leroy and Maxine shared a wonderful life for 35 years.
Maxine was a life long member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed working on auxiliaries: planning committee, singing in the choir and served as Church Clerk. One of her greatest moments was being appointed to the Deaconess Board and later the Mother's Board. She served these and all committees faithfully until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Jones, Sr.; son, Clifford Bruce Jones; parents Maceo and Goldie Standerfer; sister, Elnora Duncan.
Maxine departed this life in the early hours of April 9, 2018. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two sons, Leroy Jones, Jr., Roderick B. Jones; daughter, Ursula (Robert) Crenshaw; sister, Ada Freeman; six granddaughters, LaShaundra Jones, Ta'Leisa Jones, Britnee Young, Maija Jones, Ashley (Elton) Ivey, Robin Crenshaw; four grandsons, Bralen Jones, Steven (Sherry) Crenshaw, Eric (Mallory) Crenshaw, Robert "R.J." Crenshaw, Jr.; eight great grandchildren LaMajae Hagos, La'Miyah Jones, Dawn Paxton, Lauryn Crenshaw, Lana Crenshaw, Landen Crenshaw, Elton Ivey, III, Canaan Ivey; brother in law, Herman (Mary Lou) Jones, Charlie Jones and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 6-7 PM at First Baptist Church, 901 Calhoun St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
Celebration of life service will be held, Thursday, August 16, 2018, 10:00am at First Baptist Church, 901 Calhoun St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
Committal service and final resting place will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018, 12:00 Noon at the Little Rock National Cemetery, 2523 Springer Blvd., Little Rock, Arkansas 72206.
