Carl Pierce was born July 27, 1933 in Lincoln County, Mississippi to the late Henry and Naomi Adams Pierce. He made his peaceful transition on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

Carl was raised in a Christian home, was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, and educated at St. Paul School. Carl and his twin brother Colon joined the Army in 1952 and were deployed in 1953. Carl served as a lineman during his tour of duty and was honorably discharged in 1956.

Carl's older brothers moved to Cleveland, Ohio and he and some of his brothers would visit and eventually moved to Cleveland. When he returned from the Army he married Kathleen Austin Pierce and from that union they were blessed with four children.

Carl was somewhat of an entrepreneur and worked as many as three jobs at a time. He worked at United States Refining Company for several years and became president of the United Steelworkers Union Local 1011.

Carl married Karen Spicer Pierce and they moved to Arkansas where some of his siblings had moved from Cleveland. He liked the country atmosphere and raised cows and chickens (until he burned down the chicken house) but gardening was his passion. He loved the outdoors, gardening and sharing with friends and family or just sitting under a shade tree. Thanksgiving was always special because family was together and watching his grandchildren achieve and grow was a blessing to him.

Carl had a strong sense of family and many of his friends were like family. He kept in touch with his cousins almost as often as his siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews because there were his concern and his pride and joy. Carl greatly enjoyed traveling to extended family reunions.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Carlos Pierce; seven brothers, Oris, Beau James, Vodra, Henry, Julius, Oscar and Claude; four sisters, Beulah Clark, Naomi Houston, Alma Chambers and Mattie Perry.

Carl leaves to cherish fond memories, a devoted wife, Karen; son, Raymond (Diane) Pierce of Durham, North Carolina; five daughters, Erma Kingsberry of Cleveland, Ohio, Renelda (Michael) Sells of Brandon, Florida, Arleen (Kern) Reid of Mequon, Wisconsin, Sheila Pierce of Cleveland, Ohio, Jacqueline (Everett) Hatchett of Frisco, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Denine, Shavon, Erik, Bryant, Zachary, Kelsey, Jonathan, Porscha, Christa, Carmen, Kalyn, Kelsi; three brothers, James and Samuel (Zenaida) Pierce of Conway, Arkansas, twin brother Colon (Elmira) Pierce of Morrilton, Arkansas; sister, Marie Scott of Detroit, Michigan; two sister-in-laws Earnestine Pierce of Conway, Arkansas, Jessie Pierce of Mayflower, Arkansas; two brother-in-laws Charles (Carmen) Spicer, Kenneth (Carolyn) Spicer both of Cleveland, Ohio; seven great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends whose lives were touched by his sweet spirit.

Public visitation will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018, 11:00am at True Holiness Saints Center, 198 Hwy 286 East, Conway, Arkansas 72034.

Committal service and final resting place will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018, 11:00am at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72120.
