Margaret (Hog) Clark, the loving daughter of the late Zettie and Beaddie (Hughes) Clark died February 16, 2019.
Margaret grew up in Alma, AR and attended Booker Elementary schools under the tutelage of Mrs. Maggie Wilson, later graduating from Lincoln High school in 1950.
At an early age, Margaret professed a hope and belief in Christ and joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught BTU.
Margaret and her twin sister Mildred sang all over the county at singing conventions, Sunday services, funerals or any occasion they were requested, using those Tenor and contralto voices that the Lord so blessed them with. They were recruited to sing with the Wings over Jordan singing troupe, but due to the times they lived in Mama Bead would not let them leave Alma.
Margaret later moved to Kansas City, MO to care for an ailing uncle and remained there for 40 years until she moved back to Alma. While in Kansas City, she became a certified CNA. She loved taking care of her patients and won many awards from her home health agency for being a top caregiver.
Margaret was known for that red hair. You never knew what shade of red it was going to be. She was free hearted and would do anything she could to help anyone. She loved pretty clothes, high heels, red lipstick, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Mahalia Jackson, snuff and vodka. She was an avid reader and loved to ask questions just to see if you knew the answer. Although she was kind and loving, she also was a force to be reckoned with. She loved her sister, her nieces, her nephews (especially the boys), and her cousins.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Loran Owens Jr.; a niece, Olivia Stewart, and a great nephew, Raytell Simpson.
Margaret leaves to mourn her passing her twin sister, Mildred (Bubu) Stewart of Alma, AR.; three nieces, Cynthia (Glen) Hogue, Angelia (Marcus) Acklin of Fort Smith, AR, Demetria White of Riverside, CA; a nephew, James (Cindy) Stewart Jr. of Fayetteville, AR, her great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.
