In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Criswell family. Charles' earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Charles Criswell.

Charles Edward Criswell was born May 10, 1954 in Springfield, Arkansas to the late Virgil Toney, Sr. and Lila Ruth Payne. He answered his call to his new home on Sunday, October 27, 2024.


Charles professed his hope in Christ Jesus at an early age. He retired from Frigidare after 20 years. After retirement, he started his own lawn service. On November 21, 2021 he was ordained as a Deacon at the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church.


Charles was preceded in death by his sisters, Falicia Payne, Anna Marie Davis, and brother, Virgil Toney, Jr.


Charles leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife, Patricia Criswell; one son, Charles Toney; two daughters, KaTrina Toney and Shaffia Criswell all of Menifee, Arkansas; two special nieces, Towana Toney and April Davis both of Conway, Arkansas; mother, Lila Ruth Payne; five brothers, Eric (Renell) Criswell, Frankie Payne, Mark Payne, Robert Payne, Robert (Beverly) Toney; nine sisters, Peggy Criswell, Jackie Black, Vanessa (Robert) Lee, Kim (Gerard) Blanchett, Lettianna (Raymond) Jeffers, Ruthie (Gary) Calvin, Linda Toney, Joyve (Guenther) Melvig, Mary Toney; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.


Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, 11:00am at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Rd., Plumerville AR.


Committal service and final resting place will be held at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
