DJ, Darrell Lionell Reynolds, Jr. was a blessing on August 18, 1987 in Fort Smith, Arkansas from God to his loving mother: Rita (Antonio) Wells of Hinesville, Georgia and father: Darrell (Rosalind) Reynolds, Sr. of Fort Smith. He was also called by God to take his heavenly rest on May 13, 2022 from Fort Smith. DJ was preceded in death by his loving grandparents: Moses Francis, Sr., Barbara Pointer-Francis and aunt: Mona Claire Pointer- Benson.
While DJ lived here on earth, he lived his life bringing much joy and happiness to the lives of everyone who was blessed to have met and been in his presence. My mother always said where there is love, there is life; our home was always full of love and life with DJ. My oh my; what a joyful noise the angels are making in heaven that he is with them. One more angel has received his wings. From his first day at Pre-School at Bost, my mom and I always said it took a special kind of somebody to care for such an amazing person as DJ and others like him.
My parents, my loving sister, all his doctors particularly Dr. Cheshire who was the first pediatrician I ever got him an appointment with when he was about 3 or 4 months old and I couldn’t find another doctor that would take us back then because of no insurance. Well, Dr. James Cheshire did, and I thank him. I thank him for my son (DJ), Darrell Reynolds, Jr. I thank Him for my mother and daddy. I thank Him for my sons, father, Darrell, Sr. and I thank him for all of the other young minority young girls in my position who had a sick child, no insurance, no money; but a need. A need for care, a doctor who didn’t turn us away along with prayers and love of my mother. He stayed by DJ’s side until his retirement. He made it so much easier for my parents to understand and to continue his medical care once I joined the military to help provide insurance that was needed, I say thank you Jesus. Thank you, God. Without God, one block, one brick could have been built upon to get my son to this point. To my parents, family wasn’t just a “thing” it was “everything”. Thanks.
DJ loved and had a full enjoyable life because of his family, caregivers, you were very special to us.
DJ will always be remembered and cherished by his guardian and aunt: Fayanna Francis of Van Buren, Arkansas; mother: Rita (Antonio) Hinesville, Georgia; father: Darrell (Rosalind) Reynolds, Sr.; paternal grandparents Melvin and Agnes Reynolds all four of Fort Smith, Arkansas; brother: Gregory Reynolds; sisters: Tiaundra Reynolds of Atlanta, Georgia; Trina Reynolds and Texas; Precious Yocuum both of Dallas, Texas; Taye Reynolds of Conway, Arkansas and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends far and near.
Celebration of life service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at First Church of God in Christ 2037 North 14th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
