Dominicuaye Jermaine Mathis known as “Dom,” “Dominic,” “Nicuaye,” or “Cuaye” was born on April 19, 1980 to Melvin Hunt Mathis, Sr. and Augusta Whitney Mathis in St. Louis, Missouri.  He attended Conway public grade school and graduated in 1998 from Mayflower High School, where he met his best friend Billy Brandon. They remained lifetime brothers until this day. They never lost touch. They’ve always been there for one another. Cuaye’s passions were drawing, music, gaming, and smoking the herbs of Gods green earth (ha ha). Cuaye never met a stranger, like his mother. He was the SWEETEST gentle giant you ever wanted to meet. He was a big Teddy Bear. He gave the best hugs and the best massages. And he always showed love. (He was definitely a lover, not a fighter). As a young boy he gave his life to Christ at Trumpet in Zion Church under the leadership of the late Apostle Lawrence Braggs. His relationship deepened when he was a part of the Jumpstart Ministry. Three weeks ago Cuaye felt like the Lord was coming soon because of so many signs that he had witnessed. He was adamant about people needing to know Christ. Not knowing that Christ was coming and it was for him.

Dominicuaye was preceded in death by his father, Melvin H. Mathis Sr, whom he loved and honored so much.

Dominicuaye leaves to cherish his loving memories, his mother and step father, Augusta Mathis Bertrand and Robert L. Bertrand Jr.; one sister, Dametria Mathis Strong (Moreese); three brothers, DuWayne Whitney (Dana) of Florida, Melvin Mathis Jr (Dynasty) of Texas, and Herman Anderson (Kathy) of St. Louis; three nieces Kaylin, Ava, and Christian; two nephews, Tevin and Caleb, and a host of aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends that he loves so much.

Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, 1:00pm at Anointed and Appointed Disciples Church, 350 Salem Rd., Conway, Arkansas 72034.
