In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Mitchell family. Dorris' earthly temple is now resting in the care of Veasley Funeral Home. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Dorris Mitchell.

Dorris Pattie Criswell Mitchell was born on February 1, 1951, she was the sixth child born to the late Verlee, Sr. and Susie Thompson Criswell.  She departed from her earthly home to her heavenly home at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.  Pattie attended Eastside High School and was a proud member of the Lady Mustang basketball team and the graduation Class of 1969.


She professed her hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend W.S. Thomas, and became a lifelong member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a dedicated member of the church choir until her health failed.  Her favorite songs which she led were “King Jesus” and “Joy,” among other Dr. Watts hymns.  Pattie was employed at various companies in Central Arkansas:  Conway – Baldwin Piano, Little Rock - Falcon Jet and Morrilton Intermediate School, South Conway County School District.


She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Betty Jean Harold, Lorraine Halcombe-Logan and Betty Sue Marshall.


She leaves to cherish her memories:  former husband and caregiver, Bobby Mitchell of Morrilton, Arkansas, two sons, Carnelius Mitchell of Jacksonville, Florida and Sean Mitchell of Morrilton, Arkansas; one daughter, Alissa Criswell of Russellville, Arkansas and one “bonus daughter” Stephanie Robinson of Plumerville, Arkansas; two sisters, Etta Cummings of Beebe, Arkansas and Gertie (Roger) Toney of Morrilton, Arkansas; and one brother, Verlee Criswell, Jr. of Beebe, Arkansas. Pattie also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.


Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 1:00pm-6:00pm at Veasley Funeral Home.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11:00am at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Rd., Plumerville, Arkansas.


Committal service and final resting place will be held at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Plumerville, Arkansas.
