Emma's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Emma Franklin.

Emma Lee Grisby Franklin, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on November 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on July 17, 1947; in Fort Coffee, Oklahoma to Anna B. Phillips and Bill Grisby. Emma grew up in Spiro, Oklahoma, where she attended school and began the journey that would shape her remarkable life. At the age of 18; she met and married Earl Green, and together they owned a home in Fort Coffee, OK., where they raised five children. In the early years of her marriage, Emma devoted herself to being a homemaker, nurturing her family with love and care. Her passion for feeding others became a lifelong legacy, and she later pursued careers as a Cook and Nurses' Aide, becoming well-known for her incredible meals.
Emma was a woman of remarkable strength, fearlessness, and wit, with and innate ability to uplift those around her. She knew exactly what to say to brighten any room, offering a perfect blend of wisdom and humor at just
The right moment. Her compassion and selflessness were felt deeply by all who knew her, always giving without expecting anything in return. As a natural leader, Emma embodied the qualities of a Matriarch—grace, strength and unwavering integrity. She will be remembered for her ability to bring people together, her warm heart, and her unshakable love for her family.
Emma took great pride in her home, and it was always a reflection of her care and attention to detail. She had a gift for decorating and maintaining a space that felt both beautiful and inviting, no matter how many guests were gathered. A woman of elegance; she made sure to always look and feel her best—whether it was taking care of her skin, polishing her nails, or embracing her feminine essence with grace. Emma had a special way of making everything around her seem effortless, from her impeccable home to her nurturing presence. She shared her wisdom and tips on keeping a home warm and welcoming, and her love for creating a space filled with beauty and love will never be forgotten.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Annie B. Phillips and Bill Grisby, her husband and love of her life, Sylvester Franklin, and other dear loved ones.
She leaves behind her cherished children: Earl Green, Jr., (Bridgette) and Latreail Green both of Oklahoma City, OK., Ricky Green and Cecillia Green both of Kansas City, Kansas and Ernest (Vickie) Green of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She is also survived by her siblings: Billy Bunch, Leroy Haskins and Jimmy Haskins all of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma; Gladys Clarke of Pasadena, CA., Jimmie (Ann) Coates of Azusa, California, along with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Emma will be deeply missed by a host of extended family and friends. Her legacy of love, resilience, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
Emma Lee Grisby Franklin will forever be remembered as the heart of her family, a woman whose strength, love, and kindness shaped the lives of many. Her spirit will continue to inspire, and her memory will live on in the laughter, love, and compassion she so generously shared with all who knew her.
Walk through visitation for family and friends will be held Friday November 29, 2024; 10:00am to 7:00pm (family hour 6-7pm) Rowell-Parish Mortuary Chapel 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday November 30, 2024; 11:00am Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church 15802 Ft. Coffee Road, Fort Coffee, Oklahoma 74959.
Committal and final resting place will be Mt. Triumph Cemetery.
