Erica Elizabeth (Johnson) Burnell was a gift from God to Angela Johnson and Ronald Refro on Thursday, November 28, 1991 in Fordyce, Arkansas. She was likewise called by God to take her eternal rest on Monday, June 27, 2022 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by three of her sisters: Mary, Twanda and LaDonna Johnson; her maternal grandfather: Robert Lee Johnson.
Erica had stated, “I’m tired”. She spent her whole life trying to find love, searching for someone who would take their time with her. She came in like the wind and she saw there was time. Throughout the years with her family, there were so any tears. She stood tall and did not quit. The words “I’m tired” existed, we knew being with you was a risk and also that you had a fire that would not allow you to quit.
Erica fought long and hard to stay on this earth, even though she felt she did not belong. She thought of herself as an “Alien”. She saw herself to be different and would sometimes cry. Life will be hard without her here with us. She told us once again, “I’m tired”. Her words pierced our eardrums, but we knew you had to take your rest. We are here to fight for you until we see you again. WE LOVE YOU!!
Erica will be forever cherished and remembered by her mother: Angela Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; father: Ronald Refro; brother: LaDon Johnson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; sister: Penny Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas; her wife: Jasmine Carter; her son: Za’Chaun Carter both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her maternal grandmother: Mary Singleton of Camden, Arkansas; her best friend: Kristen Lott; two dear friends: Ashley Jones and Darlene Devrow and a host of other family members and friends.
