In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Jeffries Family. George's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of George Taylor Jeffries.

George Taylor Jeffries, Jr., was born in Lawrence, Kansas on June 30, 1938, to the late George Taylor Jeffries, Sr., and the late Catherine Brannon.  He went home to be with our Lord and Savior on October 11, 2024.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Curtis, daughter, Joanna and wife, Gloria Jean Jeffries.

 

He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church and served under the leadership of the late Rev. C.A. Woods, Rev. Ellis Robinson and Rev. Jay Forte.  Brother George  also worked tirelessly, and with a smile; as a “Door Keeper” for the Lord where he served many, many years on the Usher Board.  He worked for over thirty (30) years at Whirlpool, along with side jobs at Quality Rentals and Walker Service Station in Fort Smith.

 

Brother Jeffries leaves to cherish his memories; son:     Michael (Gloria) Jeffries of Alcoa, TN., and Paul Jeffries of Fort Smith. Daughters: April Taylor and Tiffany Jeffries both of Fort Smith.  Eight (8) grandchildren: Michael of TN., Julius of Forrest City; Jerome, Robert Preston, Candice, Mariah, Tesha, and Kenneth all of Fort Smith. Ten (10) Great-grandchildren, three (3) Great-great Grandchildren and Sister-in-law: Mary Brewer of Atlanta, Georgia.

Along with other family and friends who will truly miss him.

 

Walk through viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The immediate family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary.


Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024, 11:00am at First Missionary Baptist Church 3110 Kelley Hwy., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
