In profound sadness, the staff of Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. want to express our sincere condolences to the Belcher Family. Herman's earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Herman Belcher.

Mr. Herman Ray Belcher was born on August 11, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the late Parker and Zula Belcher. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the Class of 1966. After graduation he attended some classes at Westark Community College for Business. He later joined the Army in 1966 (Airborne 82nd Unit) and was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He was discharged in 1969 and returned home to Fort Smith. Herman was employed for the Whirlpool Corporation for forty (40) years and later retired.
In 1969 he met the love of his life, Sharon Roberts and dated her for seventeen (17) years before they decided to marry on November 26, 1986. He helped her raise three (3) children and they later had two (2) children together.
Mr. Belcher accepted Christ and united with Northside Church Of God In Christ under the pastorate of Elder James J. Watson. He was ordained as a Deacon in January 1993; and served as a Sunday School Teacher, drove the church van and was a faithful member until his health began to fail. Brother Belcher departed this life on Saturday October 26, 2024, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Zula Belcher. A son; James Roberts and other family members.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving Wife: Sharon Belcher of Fort Smith. Son; Christopher Belcher of Chicago, Illinois, Daughters: Temena Sheppard, Sonja Cotton and Elethia Roberts all of Fort Smith. Grandchildren: De’Vante Belcher, Rakiya Jones, Tyreke Delco, Madison Mobley, LaTysha Mason, Chastian Roberts, Charles Cotton, Jr., Ashley Jordan, Nicholas Cotton, Meshayale Richardson, Qwanell Mobley and Mar’Tayvious Cotton. A special Great Granddaughter: A’Miyah Ferguson (they shared the same birthday, and he helped raise her).
Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Walk through viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday November 7, 2024; from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The immediate family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th St., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Friday November 8, 2024, 11:00am at Northside C.O.G.I.C. 4420 Kelly Hwy., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904.
Committal service and final resting place will be held at Fort Smith National Cemetery 522 Garland Ave., Fort Smith, AR., 72901.
