Jo Ann’s earthly temple is now resting in the care of Rowell-Parish Mortuary. Revelations 21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; nor sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Be assured that in the days ahead you will surely gain strength from the memories of Ms. Jo Ann Prescott.

Jo Ann Prescott was a blessing from God on Saturday, August 10, 1946 to the late Louis Prescott and Robbie (West) Posey in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was also called by God to take her eternal rest on Sunday, February 26. 2023 also from Fort Smith. She was also preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law: Gloria and Charles Rainey and her maternal grandparents: Thomas Kelly and Estell West.
Jo Ann was a life-long member of her family church, Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Fort Smith. She was educated in the Fort Smith Public School System. She started attending Westark Community College (University of Arkansas-Fort Smith) in June of 1965 and became a School Teacher. After many years of teaching English in Fort Smith, she finally retired.
Jo Ann was a woman of God, for she always kept her faith in Him. She was a prayer warrior and she truly loved reading her Bible. She was a very caring person, who would give her last to someone in need. She was also a motivator; she always encouraged people to believe, “You can do anything in life if you put your mind to it and always have faith.” She loved helping and teaching children. She always had a smile on her face.
Jo Ann opened her doors to many people. She was always thankful and considerate to others. She truly wanted to see all people succeed in life without jealousy and envy. She also wanted people to always better themselves in life each and every day.
Jo Ann will be forever cherished and remembered by her two sons: Dameron (Marina) Ingram of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Charlie Ingram of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Kingston Ingram, Roman Ingram and Aaliyah Jones; four brothers: Louis (Tijuana) Prescott, Jr. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, William Prescott of Macon, Georgia, Steven (Paula) Prescott of Washington, D.C. and David (Rondia) Prescott of Centerville, Virginia; two sisters: Lisa (Ronald) Holmes of Forestville, Maryland and Audrey Prescott of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; her beloved niece: Kimberly Watson; step-mother: Martha Prescott; former husband: Donald Newton and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Walk-through visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Rowell-Parish Mortuary 611 North 9th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Celebration of life service will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church 910 North 7th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Committal service and final resting place will be at Oak Cemetery Fort Smith, Arkansas.
